Halloween trivia/ interesting facts.

Behind the Mask=

I learned that there’s a lot of information about Halloween.  I’ll admit I know some, but not all.  Now my question is, how do I incorporate what I know about the movie and is there anything I can put in that I didn’t know?  Maybe something about Michael I didn’t know from the beginning?  I noticed the obvious connection between the original and the re-make, however Rob Zombie (Behind the Mask) is trying to make Michael “scary.”  My experience is that Michael was never scary, but to others he was.  Through watching the video, it’s clear that this “new” generation of Michael is meant to be nothing but sheer terror.

I think it’s interesting how the Halloween movie has been remade into more of your typical “scary” movie. They really do try to make Michael scary and want him to scare the crap out of everyone. Watching your clip that you posted was interesting to see how they really put a lot of the orignial version and story line with. I really want to know why Halloween? Why not the Exsorcist or Freddy Cruiger? What draws you to the movie over and over again? Is it Michael himself and the suspense he brings? Is it the plot line? I really wanna know how this connection started with you and this movie. I think when you describe the first time you watched the movie is great especially because it was on halloween night. I also like the setting you describe because it’s kind of also a little scary. Halloween night, home alone, watching scary movies. You know? Good luck with it though it’s really interesting.

  1. It might be time, Jess, to think about how some of the images that you have in your collection of ideas might be used as a visual metaphor for your experience.

Masks tend to be something that we associate a number of things with; hiding, concealing identity, concealing a scar. You also have strong interests in getting behind Michael’s mask, and that in and of itself might function as a metaphor for you. What in your own experience of your fascination with Halloween is “masked”? What might be revealed if we “looked behind the mask”?

I thought it was interesting that they totally transformed the original Halloween and are now trying to make Michael more scary. What do you think about that? You obviously like the original one better, but why? What do you like about the movie in particular? As Stacey questioned- why this movie?
